Student Associations

Students are encouraged to get involved with student associations and groups during their studies. Student groups help plan conferences, arrange tours of local libraries and organizations, and provide a sense of camaraderie for students.

UBC iSchool’s Library and Archival Studies Student Association (LASSA) is the official student association at the iSchool – every student is automatically a member.

There are several local student chapters of professional organizations including:

  • ACA (Association of Canadian Archivists)
  • ALA (American Library Association)
  • ASIST (ASIS&T (Association for Information Science & Technology)
